Beverly is a bewitching American girl who has gone to that stirring little principality--Graustark--to visit her friend the princess, and there has a romantic affair of her own. Fiction Romance . The author's first book, a romance set in the imaginary Kingdom of Graustark, somewhere in the mountainous country of Eastern Europe. Court romance and intrigue. Vastly popular, the mythical Balkan Kingdom of Graustark and the "Graustarkian Romance" remain as household names today.

Graustark is an imaginary country which cannot be found on any map, but which exists in your imagination. It is a quaint place of noble tradition and charm filled with dashing adventure, romance, young lovers, mysterious villains, and old European royalty. Enter the world of Graustark and prepare to be swept away into a magical place. So, after a little research, I found the rest! Truxton King was wonderful, too!! However, I have since learned there is a sequence. So, I am reading Graustark now to put it all in order. Marvelous reading!!! Each book has adventure, chivalry, romance (different from 19th+ century "romance"), and adventure (said that but worth repeating!).Reviews: 1.

McCutcheon's Graustark no doubt borders Hope's Ruritania and Avram Davidson's more recent Scythia-Pannonia-Transbalkania. It was a place where an American adventurer could find himself or herself adrift, but rapidly caught up in intrigues, captures and escapes, and the perilously-hinged destiny of (at the very least) a royal throne or two.
